We want to publicly ask the Sherriff of Houston County Alabama to reconsider some of the new rules that prevent family members from visiting other family members in the county jail because they have previous convictions.
It has been nationally proven that family support and formerly incarcerated ran and led programs ( experts by experience ) have reduced recidivism, crime, and taxpayer's dollars.
( Crime has dropped 25% nationwide because of these type programs ) while increasing re-entry, harm reduction, productive citizens, and public safety.
We also ask that all Clergy be treated the same regardless of ideologies, religious doctrine, and practices that do not violate any rules or laws.
Our neighboring counties have even hired ex-felons on as staff and along with the nation, former sherriff's, active sherriff's, Elected Officials, Many Clergy, and concerned citizens we ask that these rules be reconsidered so that we move forward with the rest of the nation and neighboring counties, and not appear to be moving backward in Houston County.
We want to build a cohesiveness with our Law Enforcement and our Communities by helping our prodigal children, and building Public Safety for all.
